Cardinality Equivalence
Glossary
Set Theory
Cardinality equivalence treats musical objects with duplicates of a given pitch class (note name) and objects with only a singular appearance of that note as if they were both the same object.
In OC-equivalence, permutation or order still matters, especially which note is on the bottom (the root). In OPC-equivalence, the notes are treated as an unordered collection.
See Equivalence Groups for a tutorial that runs through some examples.
